Live Edge Slabs

Live edge means at least one edge of the material has not been processed and is the original shape and surface of the outside of the tree. We have one side live edge material as well as double live edge slabs

Species Available: (Largest Inventory Available in BOLD)
  • Douglas Fir
  • Cedar
  • Western Larch
  • Birch
  • Cottonwood
  • Ash
  • Maple
  • Misc. hardwoods from arborists

Last Mountain Timber begins by milling logs, cutting the slabs oversize and letting them dry until they reach furniture-grade moisture content. During the drying process, the wood releases cellular moisture, which can cause it to twist, bow, bend, and check. When it comes time to use a slab in a project, we take advantage of that extra thickness we left during the first milling to ensure flat and stable material.

It is best if you have measurement parameters in mind and call for an appointment to come and have a look.
