Weathered Jacket Boards

You might see these photos and call them barn boards; we want to specify that we do not have much wood recycled from barns.  Our jacket boards are from warehouse and grain elevator timber and we can achieve much wider boards than most barn boards allow.

What are Jacket Boards?

Our recycled timber is often very rustic in appearance. When we re-saw a weathered reclaimed timber, we save the outside “skins” that are rustic weathered and have lots of character. We call these boards Jacket Boards as they once clothed the timber.

With these boards, we build box beams or process them into wall cladding.

Design Note

Once a finish or a sealer is applied, especially to the silver grey, the colour changes dramatically. See photos for examples. If you want to maintain the silver-grey, the wood needs to remain raw or unfinished/unsealed. Remember, for high-traffic areas, it is always best to seal the wood so that it is easy to clean.
